Do the knees really last longer?
Yes. The knee patches on Babbily trousers are specially designed to last significantly longer than ordinary children's trousers.
While many conventional fabrics show signs of wear after around 5,000 friction cycles, the knee patches on our trousers withstand around 100,000 cycles in the Martindale test. This is many times the stress encountered during normal everyday play.
Important: Extreme knee-sliding on indoor floors—think soccer goal celebrations—can, of course, damage this fabric as well.
For everything else children do—climbing, crawling, sliding, romping around—the reinforced knees are built to last.
How does the Babbily size run?
Use your child's current height as a guide.
Babbily sizes are designed to cover multiple size stages and are intentionally a bit looser at first.
For more room to grow: Choose based on current height.
For a more fitted look: Choose one size smaller – with correspondingly less room to grow.

How long will the trousers fit?
The Babbily pants are designed to be worn for many months – often for an entire year.
The cut gives children plenty of freedom of movement and grows with them for a long time thanks to the elastic waistband and adjustable length.
Of course, the actual duration of wear also depends on how wild your child's adventures are. However, many parents tell us that their Babbily pants are worn for over a year and are even passed on to younger siblings afterwards.
To ensure they fit and last as long as possible:
Don’t buy “with room to grow”
The growing room is already incorporated into the design. This ensures the knee patches sit exactly where they are meant to provide protection.
Wash gently
Ideally at 30 °C and turned inside out. This is gentle on the organic cotton and preserves the surface for longer.
Rotate them
Natural fibers appreciate short breaks. If the pants are not worn every single day, they will hold their shape longer.

Why kids and parents love these pants
Children don't stop playing because the weather gets colder.
That's why we designed these thermal trousers: warm on winter days, breathable indoors and comfortable from morning until home time.
Brushed French terry is soft on the inside to keep children warm, while the smooth outer surface makes the trousers durable enough for everyday wear.
Children are constantly moving between warm classrooms and cold playgrounds. Heavy winter trousers often become too warm indoors, while thinner trousers don't keep them warm outside. That's why we use soft brushed organic cotton. It keeps children warm on cold days while remaining breathable and comfortable indoors.
Favourite trousers get worn every day. That's why we reinforced the knees with highly abrasion-resistant four-way stretch fabric. It protects where children need it most without becoming stiff or restricting movement. A little mud? Simply wipe it off and carry on playing.
Children grow quickly, so these trousers grow with them. The adjustable waistband and turn-up cuffs help them fit for longer, making them a favourite for more than one winter.
Two roomy side pockets leave space for all the important treasures collected along the way.

How sustainable are Babbily children's trousers?
Due to their robust construction, one pair of Babbily trousers can replace several conventional pairs. This saves resources right from the manufacturing stage.
Estimated effect per pair of Babbily trousers:
- 5,400 liters of water – about 36 full bathtubs
- 19 kWh of energy – enough for about 3,200 smartphone charges
- 13 kg of CO₂ – comparable to a car trip of about 87 km
Calculation basis: On average, one pair of Babbily trousers replaces three conventional pairs of children's trousers; since one of these would be produced anyway, we calculate the effect for the two trousers avoided as a result. More on the methodology here.
Fewer new purchases mean less textile waste and a more conscious approach to resources.

Gut zu Wissen
Ist die Thermohose im geheizten Kindergarten nicht zu warm?
Genau dafür ist sie gemacht: Der
angeraute Baumwollsweat wärmt draußen auf Schulweg und Spielplatz, bleibt aber
atmungsaktiv und weich genug für drinnen. Dein Kind zieht sie morgens an und hat sie einfach den ganzen Tag an. Bei Matsch oder Schnee kommt eine Regen-
oder Schneehose darüber.
Was ist der Unterschied zur Thermo-Leggings?
Die Thermohose ist weiter geschnitten,
hat Seitentaschen (ab Größe 128 geräumiger) und fühlt sich an wie eine bequeme
Freizeithose. Die Thermo-Leggings sitzt körpernäher und eignet sich besonders
gut als warme Schicht unter einer Matsch- oder Schneehose. Beide sind innen
angeraut, mitwachsend und haben verstärkte Knie.
Halten die Knie auch auf feuchtem Boden?
Die Kniebesätze bestehen aus einem
abriebfesten 4-Wege-Stretch-Gewebe (100.000 Scheuertouren im Martindale-Test)
und sind zusätzlich wasserabweisend. Nach dem Spielen auf feuchtem Boden oder
im Sand lassen sich Schmutz und Nässe einfach von den Verstärkungen abwischen.
Die Besätze liegen auf dem Baumwollstoff auf, nicht direkt auf der Haut - warm
und flexibel bleibt die Hose trotzdem.
Kann mein Kind die Hose selbst anziehen?
Ja. Die Thermohose ist eine Schlupfhose
ohne Reißverschluss und ohne Knopf am Bund vorne. Du stellst den Knopflochgummi
einmal auf die passende Weite ein - danach geht An- und Ausziehen auch für
Kindergartenkinder ganz allein. Der breite Komfortbund bedeckt dabei den
Rücken, sodass nichts rutscht, wenn dein Kind rennt, hockt oder klettert.
